Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 5, 2026
TrackIt Financial, Inc. ("TrackIt", "we", "us") builds TrackIt, a personal finance app for iPhone. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.
The short version: we collect what the app needs to show you your spending. We never see your bank credentials. We do not sell your personal or financial information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you provide one, your display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and name that service returns to us — including Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email. If you set up a passkey, we store the public key credential for it; we never receive a password.
Financial information
When you connect a bank account, we receive from Plaid: your account names, types, and masked account numbers, your balances, and your transaction history — dates, amounts, descriptions, and the merchant and category assigned to each transaction. We also store information you add yourself, such as notes on a transaction and the budgets and spending targets you set.
We never receive or store your bank username, password, or security answers. You enter those directly with your bank through Plaid. Our access is read-only: we cannot move money, make payments, or change anything at your bank.
Device and usage information
We collect information about how the app is used — screens opened, features used, and similar events — along with your device model, operating system version, app version, and a device identifier. If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token for your device. If the app crashes, we collect a crash report containing the state of the app at the time.
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photos, or the contents of your messages.
2. How we use it
- To provide the app: connecting accounts, importing and categorizing transactions, and showing you your spending.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To send you notifications you have asked for, and service emails such as sign-in codes and account changes.
- To fix bugs, diagnose crashes, and understand which parts of the app are used so we can improve them.
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use your financial data to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to operating the app.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the app. They may use it only to provide their service to us, not for their own purposes.
- Plaid Inc. — bank connections and transaction data. Plaid's handling of your information is governed by its own End User Privacy Policy.
- Google (Firebase) — analytics and crash reporting.
- Apple — push notification delivery, and Sign in with Apple if you use it.
- Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Pusher — real-time delivery of updates to the app.
- Our hosting and email providers, which store and transmit data on our behalf.
We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the rights or safety of our users or the public. If TrackIt is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will tell you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account and financial data for as long as your account is open. If you disconnect a bank account, we delete the transactions we imported from it. If you delete your account, we delete your personal and financial data, except for limited records we are required to keep for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.
5. Security
Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest. Access to production systems is restricted to the people who need it. Sign-in uses passkeys, one-time email codes, or Apple or Google sign-in — there is no password for an attacker to guess or reuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat financial data as the sensitive material it is.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction — you can view and edit your profile in the app, and ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Deletion — you can delete your account from within the app, in Settings, or email us and we will do it for you.
- Disconnecting accounts — you can remove any connected bank account at any time.
- Notifications — you can turn push notifications off in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Analytics — you can limit app tracking through iOS privacy settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict processing, the right to data portability, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. To exercise any of these, email contact@trytrackit.com. We will not charge you for it, and we will respond within the time the law allows.
7. Children
TrackIt is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
8. International users
TrackIt is operated from the United States and your information is processed there. If you use the app from outside the United States, you are transferring your information to a country whose data protection laws may differ from your own.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
